Our motto is improving our health naturally through the right foods. Whilst some commercially-produced supplements can help, some Ayurvedic herbs and spices, with adaptogens are best consumed through foods (the traditional way.) Why? Because these ingredients need to be taken with a fatty substance for it to be absorbed by your gut. Lakadong Turmeric has an amazing 9% curcumin, and for the body to absorb this goodness it's best to enjoy it in a meal or a drink.
We've been receiving lots of questions on how to use this incredible golden spice, so here a four ways you can add turmeric to your diet (the last one is my personal favourite)
1 • Ready-for-the-day Shot: add half to 1 tsp of Lakadong Turmeric into a small glass, along with a squeeze of lemon and ginger powder (or freshly grated ginger). Best drunk before or after breakfast.
2 • Midday Tea: mix 1 tsp of Lakadong Turmeric, a squeeze of lemon and 1/4 tsp of cinnamon in a mug of boiled water. Once the water has slightly cooled, drizzle in a teaspoon of manuka honey. - (it's best to add honey to cooled down water as with hot water the honey heats and changes its properties, which isn't the best in Ayurveda)
3 • Netflix + Masala Popcorn (for 2): add your choice of cooking oil to a pot on medium heat. Add in your corn, but before it starts popping, sprinkle in 1 tsp of chilli powder, 1/4 teaspoon of Lakadong Turmeric and a pinch of himalayan salt to taste. With the lid on, shake it around in circular motions till its popped and ready to serve.
4 • Bedtime Turmeric Milk: Warm up 240ml of dairy or oat milk (our favourite is Oatly). As it begins to simmer, add in half a tsp of Lakadong Turmeric and stir. Pour into your fave mug and sip through the evening for a sound sleep. You can add a little honey to sweeten the taste too. This is one of the most traditional Ayurvedic ways of consuming turmeric for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties (and was my Nani's (Grandma's) go-to drink for a health boost!)
